Feel the power of the mother earth, as high pressure and temperature of magma in deeper underground forces fumarolic gas, hot water and thermal mud to spout out on the surface with tremendous momentum. Jigoku Meguri is full of such astonishing and unique phenomena going through places such as cobalt blue hell and red bloody hell! In July 2009 four hells within the city; Sea, Pond of Blood, Geyser Tornado, and White Pond, were classified as national scenic sites namely “The Hells of Beppu”.
